makecdfs Command
Purpose
Creates a 4.1 filesystem that can be used as input to the Young
Minds software. This is the first step in the process of creating
a 4.1 CDROM.
Syntax
makecdfs [ -d destination_dir ] [ -s source_dir ] [ -i imagesList ]
[ -l devicefileList ] [ -n ] [ -t installType ]
Description
makecdfs creates a filesystem from the files found relative to the
location specified as the source directory. If no source location is
specified, makecdfs defaults to a pre-defined AFS location
(/afs/austin/aix/project/aix411/build/latest). If no destination is
specified, the filesystem is created in the current working directory.
makecdfs does the following:
1) Copy images from <source_dir>/inst.images to
<destination_dir>/usr/sys/inst.images
if [ imagesList specified ]
copy only images listed
else
copy ALL images
2) Optionally, create a table of contents for the images in
<destination_dir>/usr/sys/inst.images
if [ -n flag NOT specified ]
create TOC in <destination_dir>/usr/sys/inst.images
3) Optionally, create the extended filesystem shown in the diagram below
if [ bos is one of the images in <destination_dir>/usr/sys/inst.images ]
restore bos in <destination_dir>/bos.rte and create symbolic links.
copy device support files listed in devicefileList from
<source_dir>/ship/power to <destination_dir>/devices.
copy bos install files from <source_dir>/ship/power/usr/lpp/bosinst
to <destination_dir>/bos.rte/usr/lpp/bosint.
copy bos install message catalogs from
each directory in <source_dir>/ship/power/usr/lib/nls/msg
that contains the file 'BosMenus.cat' to
<destination_dir>/bos.rte/usr/lib/nls/msg.
if [ -t flag specified ]
copy corresponding bosinst.data install template from
<source_dir>/src/bos/usr/lpp/bosinst/data to
<destination_dir>/usr/lpp/bosinst
(The default install template is used when this flag is not
specified. This file was included in the above step to
<copy bos install files>.)

The output filesystem is created as shown below:

Flags
-d directory Specifies the full path location where the
filesystem will be created.
-s directory Specifies the full path location where the source
files reside. The source files must be found in
specific subdirectories of the location specified.
The default path is:
/afs/austin/aix/project/aix411/build/latest
-i filename Specifies a file containing a list of the images to
include in the output filesystem.
-l filename Specifies a file containing a list of the device
support files to include in the output filesystem.
The default devicefileList is:
$SRC_DIR/inst.images/cdboot.fsfiles
-n Specifies that a table of contents should not be
created for the install images. The toc is
created by default if this flag is not specified.
-t installType Specifies the bos install type. Valid values are
'full', 'client', 'personal' or 'eserver'.
Error Checking
Errors that occur while restoring bos, creating symbolic links for bos, and
copying install images are logged to '/tmp/makecdfs.err.$$'
The source directory must exist and be readable.
The <source_dir>/inst.images directory must exist and be readable.
The destination directory must exist and be writable.
The filesystem created in the destination directory cannot exceed 600MB.
The destination directory must have enough space to create the filesystem.
Environment Variables

customized version 3.2 inutoc command if it is run from a 3.2 machine.)
