promote_ship Command
|
|
|
|
|
|
Key Concepts

Purpose
|
|
|
|
Moves PTFs from the production server to the ship server
|
|
and releases the CCSS format PTFs to the field.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Syntax
|
|
|
|
promote_ship [-p prod_directory] [-s ship_directory] [-n]
|
|
[-x] [-R] [-E] [-h] [-d] [-?] PTF_filename(s)
|
|

Description
|
|
|
|
The promote_ship command moves PTFs from the production server
|
|
to ship server and transmits each PTF from the ship server to
|
|
ausmvs6 for distribution. It also updates the PTFs information
|
|
on RETAIN and CMVC.
|
|
|
|
If you do not specified -d option, then the promote_ship command
|
|
will generate the RETAIN.dbg file on your home directory for
|
|
debugging RETAIN purpose.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Flags
|
|
|
|
-p prod_directory Directory of production server.
|
|
The default is $PROD_DIRNAME which is in
|
|
32_pkg_environment file.
|
|
|
|
-s ship_directory Directory of ship server.
|
|
The default is $SHIP_DIRNAME which is in
|
|
32_pkg_environment file.
|
|
|
|
-n No execute. Verifies that the group of PTFs
|
|
specified can be promoted together.
|
|
|
|
-x Do not generate an error condition for missing
|
|
supersede requisites on the ship server. If
|
|
this option is used a ptf is allowed to promote
|
|
when ptfs that it supersedes are missing from the
|
|
ship server.
|
|
|
|
-R Resends PTF files to ausmvs6 for distribution.
|
|
All PTFs must already be located on the ship
|
|
server.
|
|
|
|
-E Resends PTF files to RETAIN and updates
|
|
PTFs information on CMVC.
|
|
|
|
-d Exclude debug mode for RETAIN information
|
|
|
|
-h | -? Lists help message.
|
|
|
|
PTF_filename(s) The list of PTFs to be checked.

2. Resend PTF file U000001.ptf to the ausmvs6 from the ship server

Prerequisite Information
|
|
|
|
The promote_ship command calls 32_pkg_environment, xmit_ptf, ccss_unpack,
|
|
gen_ptf_index prereq_list, update_RETAIN and SendPtf programs. Make sure
|
|
you add those programs' pathname to your PATH environment variable.
