PRESS/INTERPRESS TEST PROCEDURE Filed as {ERIS}TEST>HARDCOPY>PRESS/INTERPRESS.PROC Follow this procedure from an 1108 or 1109 and from an 1186 with hardware and software installed as specified in Section 5 of {ERINYES}LISP>LYRIC>PLANS>PRESS/INTERPRESS.PLAN, both with Ethernet access to both a Press and an InterPress printer. The success criterion is that all files should print and the each printed copy should look like the same file viewed on the screen with FileBrowser's Edit option. A. Preparation 1. Open a Common Lisp Exec window and enter (CL:IN-PACKAGE 'XCL-USER) Enter all subsequent commands from this window and this package. 2. Verify that {ERINYES}LIBRARY> is at the head of the list IL:DIRECTORIES. If not, use CONS, PUSH or DV to put it there. 3. Enter (IL:FILESLOAD (IL:SYSLOAD) SKETCH) (IL:LOAD "{ERIS}I/O>HARDCOPY>HAND>STREAMTESTS.DFASL") IL:CONN "{ERIS}I/O>HARDCOPY>HAND>TESTFILES>" 4. Set the variables PRESSPRINTER and IPPRINTER, respectively, to a Press and an InterPress printer to which you have Ethernet access. The easiest way to do this is to enter (SETPRINTERS) which sets them to the first available printer of each type on the list IL:DEFAULTPRINTINGHOST and prints their values. If a value is nil, you do not have a printer of that type on IL:DEFAULTPRINTINGHOST; if one is accessible, use APPEND, PUSH or DV to add it to the list, then re-enter (SETPRINTER). To use printers other than the first available, use SETQ on the variables above. B. Press test 1. Enter (DEFPRINT PRESSPRINTER) to ensure that a Press printer is at the head of IL:DEFAULTPRINTINGHOST. The function will return the new list. 2. Enter (SENDFILES) to send the files in the connected directory to PRESSPRINTER. It takes about 30 minutes to print all the test files. 3. (Optional stress test) Enter (STRESSTEST) to send the file {ERIS}I/O>HARDCOPY>HAND>STRESSTEST>STRESSTEST.TEDIT to PRESSPRINTER. This is a large file (~200k) and it takes a while to format and print. C. InterPress test 1. Enter (DEFPRINT IPPRINTER) 2. Perform steps B. 2 and B. 3. NOTE: This procedure leaves IPPRINTER as the default printer. Use IL:DV, POP or SETQ to restore IL:DEFAULTPRINTINGHOST to its original state. 200020,GACHA TIMESROMAN TF(DEFAULTFONT 1 (GACHA 10) (GACHA 8) (TERMINAL 8) (4045XLP (TITAN 10))) =ú£,Aƒ #<3¯€ q v 9Z ŽÏRzº
